Location shots

Locations from Sophie Spink

For my locations shots I will be using different shots of out doo scenery and forests. This is important because I will be using long shots to show the various and different setting that I will be filming and taking photos in. I will use shots from Richmond River and the surrounding fields and the castle area I think that these will be ideal places to use because of the good quality lighting and the clears style of setting that is ill be able to use.

I will use lakes and foot paths to create a video with the friends and family shots because this means that I will be able to create a realistic setting that will allow the viewer to relate to the video and the content of it.

The use of long paths, bridges and roads are important because this allows me create a video that will have constant movement and traveling this I key because the main style of the video will be moving forward and going places which will be simple to achieve with shots like these on slide 4 and 5 which consist of pathways and wooded areas.

Slides 6 and 7 consist of holiday shots of beaches and other bright well lit photos and videos. I think that by using these shots it is important because this allows me to create a video that shows traveling and movement of people. This is useful because by using different shots from different parts of the world this means that I can create a video that has constant motion from place to place.

From the use of a survey I have been able to find out that over 73% of people chose Alternative music as their favorite genre this shows that the style of our music video is ideal to appeal to the wider audience of 15-20 year olds that our survey has appealed to. we have looked into the different platforms that people view their music videos on I think that the majority of the people that watch music videos daily use YouTube as their main platform and over 85% of people watch music videos on 4 Music. this shows that they are watching some mainstream music daily. also the main radio station that was listened to by 15-20 year olds were Radio 1 and capital this shows that the main style of music that they listen to s modern chart music. this shows us that the style and song that we have chosen is ideal as a chart style music that will appeal to the 15-20 year old target audience that we will be designing our music video for.

Costume design

My Analysis

For the costume design we will be using g very basic styles that are mainly winter style clothing. Within this some of the makeup style that I want to uses is featured on the second slide the close up shot of the face shows the main style of makeup that I want to achieve. There will be basic makeup with bold lips and eyebrows this is shown in the bottom right phot on this slide.

On slide 3 it shows a blanket scarf this style is important because this helps to create the relaxed feel to the video and the style that I am trying to achieve. In slide 4 it shows the style of hair and makeup that I am wanting to achieve.

Slide 5 consists of the type of makeup hair and costume that I desire. This means that I can use props such as the umbrella to achieve the winter and autumnal setting. The beige and cream coloured clothing in theses shots is relevant because this links to the muted style of clothing that I am trying to achieve.

With slides 6,7 and 8 these are good photos as this will be similar to the setting that I am aiming for and the style of clothing and makeup. I think that the styles within these shots is import because this has allowed me to get a feel for how the video is going to look. I think that the centre shot of the 8^th slide is effective this is because the setting and the wide shot is effective because this enabling the viewer to have a full view of the person and their surroundings. This is effective because this means that video will have a clear setting within each shot.

Slide 9 is showing the main style of male clothing that we will be using with our music video. There will be mainly jumper’s jeans and boots. This is important because the central phot will link to the photos on slide 5 this is because the matching colour scheme of cream will be effective and will subtly make the video flow together and be effective.

Slides 10 and 11 are good because of the use of props that enables the video to have different features within it that makes it much more effective. The uses of props such as scarfs is import because this creates the style of winter and colder weather that I am trying to achieve.

For my music video I need the different shots to match with the lyrics. This will allow me to create a video that will flow together seamlessly. This is a key element in the intention to make sure that the viewer seems genuine and will go with the song its self.

The opening verse of the song is ‘On The Road Again’ this is a key element because this is after the long instrumental at the start of the song. This is the opening verse therefore this needs to link with the video and what is being shown. The intention of this video is t chow lo6ts of different shots from different places in the world. This is going to be a moving shot of roads and a highway. This is a key element because this is because the video that will be showing a journey which is subtly intended in the opening scene of this video.

The second verse of the song begins with ‘It’s So Magical Feeling’ this is a good part of the song to change the style of the shot this will be changed to either a firework footage or a sun setting I think that these will be best matched to the lyrics as this is showing something that is mesmerising and attention grabbing which will be important within the music video as this will help to make the video more captivating.

The chorus is the main part of the song. I will not be using similar or the same shots within this part of the video even though the Lyricas are the same. Using various different shots within this part of the video is import because this will be where the most of the shots will be fit in. this will include lots of different shots that have minimal theme. This is import because this is how we are going to create a video with a different feeling at each clip or shot.

In verse 4 it says ‘It’s the Best of the Worlds Feeling, Like Nothing Can Go Wrong’. This is important because this will consist of shots of couples are people together including friends. This is important because this will display the ‘honeymoon phase’ that will be portrayed within the video. There will be various scenery and landscape shots including shots of people in friendships and relationships allowing the video to have something that create a moving forward feeling.

Again the chorus will have lots of different shot in it this is going to include more photos and videos of people and friendships and how they are developing and moving forwards with the video and the song. This is important because it links to the opening lyrics ‘On The Road Again’ this is showing how the video and everything g in it is moving forward.

As the lyrics and the music begin to slow down I will you slower transitions between shots and making them fade will be a good effect to use because this means that the visuals will slow down with the lyrics. In the final lyrics it says ‘and its whistling’ this is the ending of the video and where I will be using the shot above with the four friends and as the song comes to the end I will have one of the people move towards the camera and take it out of the photographers hands. I think that it will then go black and this will be the end of the video.

Treatment for music video

Music video treatment

For my final project for my A Level media studies I will be creating a music video to go along with an existing song. I will be in a group with two other people within my class. I will be using the song Pumpin’ Blood by NoNoNo. I have chosen this song as it has the style of melody and lyrics that I am looking for when it comes to making the video.

The genre of my music video is alternative rock. This is the same genre as the song this is because this will be an ideal genre for me to replicate into a fitting music video.

The duration of my project is the whole school year. This means that I am able to design develop and produce my video over the duration of the school year. The duration of the music video will be 3.38 minutes from start to finish this is allowing me to use the whole song for the video and not miss out any features from it.

The main target audience from my music video 1ill be 16-25 year olds of both genders this is because this main style of music appeals to them the most. I think that my video will appeal to both male and females as it will have an even style throughout that is done constantly relating to one gender.

The outline of my project mainly includes the planning, development and the producing of my music video. The planning for my music video will take the longest as this is the most important part. This is the part that allows me to choose a song and helps me develop my music video knowledge and this will help me to understand who my target audience is and what they want. The development stage will allow me to find out how I can change the music or the video in any way that will make out what I want. I believe that the development stage means I can adapt the song to a style that I and the audience wants. The producing will allow my music video to come together this will be where I film the shots and put them together with the music to make the complete video. This will be difficult as I will have to make sure that the whole video flows together well with the music and none of the features are out of place.

I think that there will be two main characters that the video focuses on however there will be a lot of side and peripheral characters that will not be in the centre focus of the video. I think that there will be the two main characters and then there will be the ‘friends’ of them and they will feature within parts of the music video.

The lighting within the music video will be very different according to each shot. This is because different shots will be taken in different settings which will result in there being a different style throughout the video. Some of the shots will be bright and well-lit and this will be reflected in the relation to the lyrics and melody of the music video. Some of the shots will be filmed at night. For example if there were fireworks and this style of light will be used to create a specific style of lighting and setting.

 

There will be lots of different camera movements there will be shots showing up close images and videos of the actor’s faces and the expressions that they have on them. There will also be lots of wide angled shots showing the scenery and the place that the video is set in this will be done to create a setting for the video allowing the viewer to develop their own opinion and desired style of the video that they develop form it.

The editing with the video will be a continuous movement of lots of different shots showing the friendship and the video developing. This is a key feature as this is what the video is going to be based upon. There will be a smooth transition between each shot showing how one jumps to another shot of the actors doing someht9ing and the actions that they are placing. There will be some editing to the videos and photos this is because they will be changed and altered to allow them to look different and have a style that matches the desired genre of our music video. There will be similar if not the same filters and editing programs used on the music video this is because we want the style of the music video to flow smoothly.

The setting of the music video will be various different shot. These will be filmed in different locations this is important this is because it can show how the relationship between the two people and the friends is traveling. It is important to have different locations as this will allow people form various places to relate to the video.

The actors within my music video will mainly be friends and people in relationships. I think that this is key as this allows the viewer to have something to relate to. I believe that this is an important factor because by having people that you are able to relate to makes the video stand out more and appeal to more people as they know what is happening and how it can potentially affect them.

 

The prop used within the music video will be mainly be the actors and the setting. This is because by not including many props this allows thereto be a focus point within the video which is the people themselves. I think that if props were to be used it would mainly be things like umbrellas this is because of the wintery and more autumnal style that we are going form when creating our music video.

The costume style will be very basic and will consist of various different style of clothing. This is because of the different settings that it will be filmed in. there is an autumnal and winter style throughout the video with features of summer. These will consist of very different styles of clothing. This will be used to reflect the setting and the location that the video is going to be filmed in allowing the viewer to make their own judgement of what is going on and how the video comes together.

We will be using the song Pumpin Blood by NoNoNo this is because we believe that this song will be the best and most simple for use to create a video to. We think that by using the original song this will allow us to create a fitting video that will go well with the sound piece. This song is good for us to use because it has a very simple style and throughout there are features that will allow us to create a video style to match them. This is because will will be able to combine different shots that have different style meaning that for the more upbeat parts of the video we will be able to reflect this within the video and do the same for the more slow and instrumental parts of the song.

There will be not editing to the lyrics or the music of the video we will be using the original song. There will be no speaking from the actors used within the video. There may be short features within the music video where you may hear laughing form the actors allowing the viewer to hear and see these parts. By having visuals that link to the sound and music this will help to create our video and make it flow in order.

I think that this idea is the best for my music video this is because I will be able to recreate a video that will link with the lyrics and will flow smoothly. I think that with the style of music and genre of actors and filming I am going to use I believe that this will be the most ideal video for me to recreate. This is because I will be able to use my surrounding are and the style of town that I live in to my advantage this is because it will match with the basic style and genre that I am aiming for with my music video.

Phillip Phillips music video Gone Gone Gone will be the best video for me to receive inspiration from this is because within his video he uses lots of changing shots of different locations and time frames I think that this will be one of the main video s that I will use for inspiration. I will also use the style of Ed Sheerans video photograph this is because within his video he use lots of different shots showing how he has grown up and developed. I think that by using chronological shots this will allow me to create a video that moves along in time with the song and this will appeal to the viewer as they will feel like they are moving along with the song.

 

 

 

 

 

Analysis of lyrics from NoNoNo Pumpin Blood

I am using the song Pumpin Blood by NoNoNo. I think that these are the best lyrics and ,melody for me to use as this genre and style of music is up beat and as an indie rock style to it. This will make it easier to create a music video that is in beat and goes well with it.

Overall the main lyrics within the song are and its whistling' this could mean that the heart is which for something and is expecting there to be something that will happen. this is effective because it shows ho the heart is constantly anticipating and wanting something to happen. how it says 'its alive' and this makes the viewer think that it has its own through and want to do its won thing and how is whistling for attention and how it is wishing to do something important.

Possible Costumes

For the costume design there will be a basic style of clothing that have a consistent colour theme this will help the video to flow and come together as a whole. I believe that by having clothing that matches with the scenery and seasons that are autumn and winter will be effective as this will help the visuals and lyrics come together well. These neutral and dark colour will help the video to be effective this is because when there is a main person that is needed to be focused on they can be dressed in bolder colours to make them stand out. An example could be if there was a single person that the video is focusing on they could be dressed in a white dress or white shirt. This would help them to stand out from the video and the other actors in it. The main style of clothing will be a wintery this will consist of oversized coats, scarves and boots. There will be knee high socks on the girls and jackets and scarves on the guys. This will help set the scene for the music video by showing the audience that there is a cold feel.

I think that the girls style of clothing on this website is good, this is because it consists of a much more modern style which has lots of simplistic and effective items within the outfit. I think that this is good to use inspiration from because this will enable me to have a video that is effective and will allow the video to have certain features to stand out more than other features within the while music video.

Possible Locations

For my location I will use a rural setting for the majority of the music video with a few urban and city setting throughout. I think that most of the shots will be in woodland and lakes and an outdoor style to it this is because it will go well with the lyrics that I have chosen but also this style will be easy to achieve because of the area that I live in. I think that the style of woodland and lakes will help me to achieve the style of going on walks with friends. This is going to be a key feature within my music video because the main focus will be relationships and friendships. By having a few urban and city setting photos and images in the music video this will display how the friendships and relationships are traveling along with the music video. By using city centres and other urban setting such as train and car journeys this will be effective as it shows the people and friends traveling together. I will use events such as bonfire nights and other events such as potentially gigs and concerts as this will give another depth to the video.

Structure ideas

With the style of music video that I want to create the location and setting that I need will be mostly woodland areas and rural locations. There will be some filming and shots taken in more urban locations of towns and cities but this will only be in very few shots. I think that by filming in these locations in the seasons of autumn and winter will allow me to get the desired effect from the music video that I want. I believe that by having the colder months to film in this will allow me to get a colour scheme to use. This will be reflected in the clothing of the actors within my music video. The style of these colours and the lighting that I will get from my filming. The clothing and colour scheme is important when making a music video as this is what ensures the colours all matching this will help to make sure that the video all fits together well and does not have any visuals that clash together. The lighting is important this is because it cannot be to bold or harsh and cannot be to dark it needs to just show features of the person and what they are doing.

The music video will mainly consist of long shots. This is so I can have shots that show the scenery and the location that it is set and filmed in. there will be some close up shots. These will be done to show the features of the persons face and their expressions as well. There will be close up of mainly the girl’s faces this is because these will be used to focus upon the makeup features and the bold style of makeup that I am wanting to do for my music video. There will be close ups of the hair of the girls. Showing the long plaits and curly style of hair. I will use different style of shots and panning will be used to show the location and the clothing that the actors are wearing. The video will have a lot of point of view shots there will mainly be form the guy’s point of view looking at the girl. This will be in the style of a Taylor Swift music video where there is a guy and a girl and there will be mainly shots between the both of them. Different locations and time frames will be used to show how the love has developed and changed. The main lighting that will be used will be from natural sources such as daylight. There will be a lot of candle light and light from flames. This part of the video will be filmed during bonfire night this will allow me to get the style of family and friends and the bright bold lighting style that I want. There will be shot showing family and friends together. There will be sunset/sunrise shots used to show the friends and family together and either walking or sitting somewhere looking towards the sunrise and sunset.

 

 

Prose

For my music video I want to create a home video style music video. The main inspiration that I will be using for my video will be Phillip Phillips song Gone Gone Gone and also Ed Sheeran’s song Photograph. This is because I like the idea of using home footage as this makes the video more personal. This is good as it allows the artist to show their fans a part of their life. The use of images and videos from different time periods show the progression of the video. The use of old and new images and videos make the video seem more realistic. The images and videos within my music video need to be random and very different this is because I want it do have a different style and feel to each part of the video. I think that the style from Ed Sheeran and Phillip Phillips songs are good to use for inspiration because I can use the same filming and colour scheme style. I am wanting to use the autumn and winter months to create a certain style to the video. By using the seasons like autumn and winter this allows me to use autumnal colours and weather to create the style that I want. I think that by using bonfire night as a setting for part of the music video this will allow me to film with the fireworks and in the night. This will allow me to film where there is a family and friends style surrounding and this will allow me to get some footage and images that will give a different style and feel to my video that will stand out and look and have a different feel compared to others out there.

Props, makeup, costume design and choreography

Make up

The makeup style needs to be like a Taylor swift style. This is because there needs to be a flawless pale face with rosy cheeks and emphasis facial definition. This needs to be similar to Taylor Swift’s style of neutral make up style with bold colours featuring. There needs to be deep dark and red lip sticks with berry colours. These need to match the type of style with the seasons. E.g. autumnal colours to match with the weather. Brassy colours such as gold and bronze need to be used as eye shadow this is to create a look of more fairy tale style than day to day. Bold eye makeup needs to be used to make them stand out. High definition and tick bold eyebrows would be a good feature as this would allow there to be another bold facial feature to focus on along with the bold lips.

The main style that I will base my visuals on will be the Taylor Swift and Lily Collins style. I think that Taylor uses a clean and basic make up style in her music videos that make it more effective. The actress Lily Collins in the Movie Mirror Mirror is the main style that I will base my makeup design off this is because I think that her pale make up, red lips and tick bold eyebrows enable her look to be one of the main features within the video. I think that the best look to base my makeup on will be Lily Collins as this is the main style that I am aiming to achieve. This is also linked with the setting that is in the movie because it is mainly filmed in woodland during the autumnal and winter months enabling there to be a more winter feel to the video

Hair

The hair style will be long and flowing. It will have a beach wave, messy windswept style to it. It will have styles like long plats and fish tail designs. This will help achieve the genre style that I want this is because the long messy haired style will go well with the indie, alternative rock style that I want to achieve with my music video.

Costume

Girls, black jeans and oversized boyfriend fit shirts. Dark colours and oversized jumpers these will all be in relation to the autumnal colours that I wish to achieve. Brown bots and wellies will be a feature item this is because this look will help to create an indie alternative look to the video. Scarves, hats and gloves are good pieces to use as this gives the audience an idea of what the weather is like and also allows there to be a good scene setter piece. This helps with the style of location as this will influence the thoughts of the audience. Knitted items need to be featured as this chunky knit style will give the video a different feel.

Boys, dark colours will be used on the boys as this will help to contrast against the girls’ clothing and the autumnal colours. Layering will be used to create a multiple effect this will be done with colour schemes ensuring that the colours and styles of clothing that are used will match the rest of the video. This is so no items of clothing look out of place within the video.

Props and feature pieces

The items that will feature in the music video will be acoustic guitars, this is because the music style consists of this style of music. The scenery will be mainly woodland based and fallen leaves and twigs. Bonfire night will be a good setting to use for parts of our final production as this will allow there to be a family and friends setting that will have the desired outdoor and cold weather effect. This is a good setting to film in because the style of clothing and colours that I want in my music video will be there. The use of bright lights with the sparklers and fireworks will also add an atmospheric feel to the video.

Choreography

The main style of dancing and movement will be fairly slow pace. This will consist of walks through woodland and other rural areas. This will help to emphasise the lyrics in the video. There will be no real dancing as such this is because the video its self will mainly be constructed with lots of different home forage videos that will all be put together to create a different style of video. The different locations will affect the different styles of choreography that is used this is because the different locations will influence the style of dancing and movement that we use in our music video.
